Call Of Duty - World At War!

Finally! I received this game about 3 days ago and haven't been able to put it down since! This game is everything that everyone is talking about! I heard so much about the game that I knew that it was good! To me, if a bunch of people keep talking about a game, then the game must be good. So, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it!

The game is set in the World War 2 era. And I know that WW2 has been covered before in other war games, but it has never been done like this! First of all, as with all Call Of Duty games, the graphics are top-notch. The storyline revolves around two privates from two different armies. The U.S. Army and The Russian Army. PVT. Miller and PVT.Petrenko.

Pvt. Miller's mission involves the U.S. Army's fight against the Japanese Army on various Pacific island's under Japanese control. You and the American Army are a formidable force, but the Japanese Army...Whooo!!! The Japanese Army let you know just how far they are willing to go to defend their island! Just like your grandfather told you, the Japanese are dug in, and it's your job to go get them out, with the help of your trusty flamethrower!

The addition of the flamethrower has got to be the best weapon on the game! Between the Japanese sniping at you from the treetops, or them screaming, "BANZAI!!!" as they run straight at you! You WILL need the flamethrower! You will also need it to clear out those underground compounds that the Japanese are so heavily dug into!

PVT. Petrenko's mission is equally as amazing. But instead of fighting the Japanese, you are defending Mother Russia against the incredible might of the German Army! The Germans are no less ruthless than the Japanese! They hit you with everything they they have and pull no punches! If you think that you will just stand up and start shooting everything that moves, then you are sorely mistaken!

If you don't take cover, you will die! If you don't make sure that they are dead, you will die! The good news is that you can start over again from your last spot! The bad news is that if you don't learn from your mistake, you will be starting from that same spot over and over again! Even on the medium difficulty, this game is a handful for any first person shooter fan! And a handful of difficulty is what the online component of the game is!

The online component of Call Of Duty : World At War is just as impressive as last years Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare! Even better! With the addition of vehicles and German attack dogs, the makers of this game have really outdone themselves! It's one thing to have to worry abut your online enemies, but now you have to worry about the German attack dogs! And believe me, they are not easy to shoot! Plus once you shoot them, they alert your online enemies to your position. So you have been, in effect, smoked out!

This game is, as I said before, a definite must-have for any first person shooter fan! And you will enjoy yourself tremendously. If you want to save yourself some money, rent the game through Gamefly, and like I told you before, keep it as long as you want! With no late fees! Ever! Also, once you join Gamefly you will have the option to keep the game and buy it at a reduced price. So you can get more bang for your buck! Check out Gamefly, you won't be dissapointed!

The Madden Curse Has Officially Been Broken!

I know, I know, I said that I would be reviewing Call Of Duty: World At War on my next post, and I will but I made a mistake in my gameQ in my Gamefly account. I accidentally put Left 4 Dead twice in my gameQ and they sent it to me again! That's my fault for not explaining the gameQ to you. Whatever you have in your gameQ that's what they are going to send to you, IN THAT ORDER! So you better have it right! Anyway, thats my fault,I'll have the game by Tuesday. I promise! Let's talk about the Madden curse!

During this crazy end to a football season no one has brought up the fact that Brett Favre DID indeed break the vaunted MADDEN CURSE! For the first time in it's long history, it has been broken! He had no injuries(that were reported...) and he had a great year with the Jets! Amid all of the Super Bowl hype and the questions as to whether he will come back or not, no one noticed this little tidbit!

Like I said in my previous article,The Madden Curse - Why Brett Favre May Be the First to Break It!" I think that he broke the Madden Curse because he was pictured on the front of Madden '09 in a Green Bay Packers uniform, and he ended up in a N.Y. Jets uniform! That's how he broke the curse! By switching teams and being the most confused and undecided quarterback in the NFL!

I sound like I don't like Brett Favre, but actually I do! If it weren't for Favre we would have never known that Chad Pennington could get over his shoulder injury. We would have never known just how far the Jets organization would go just to get a quarterback for ONE YEAR!(Real Smart, JETS!!!) And we would have never known if the Madden Curse could have been broken!

Now that we know all of these things, now what? Well, lets see! The Jets will need to go into the 2010 draft looking for a quarterback because everyone doubts whether Brett will be back! The people at EA(Electronic Arts) now know that is what not all bad luck to put athletes on the cover of their most popular video game! And you can best believe that they will continue to do it in the future!

...I've got to say this to get it off my chest! Brett Favre did not break the Madden Curse because he is a white athlete! He broke the Curse because he changed teams in the beginning of the season! (To the uninformed out there, all of the previous NFL athletes put on the cover of Madden were African-American, and all of them were met with some kind of injury during their season while they were on the cover. If you don't believe me go back and check the covers!) And the N.Y. Jets were stupid enough to fall all over him and take the bait! Sure they had a great season, but now look at what they have! No quarterback! At least not for next year! And if they are smart they will go into the draft looking for one because Brett Favre will not be coming back!!!

Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe!

Hey all. I was so busy worrying about Call Of Duty: World At War, that I forgot to mention the first game that I rented from Gamefly! That first game was Mortal Kombat Vs. DC universe! And this game was really good!

Now first of all, I have only one complaint about the game! And that complaint is the story! What a lame story! Something about the two worlds colliding and...trust me, it's lame! They would have been better just making them fight for no reason whatsoever and not answering any of the gaming publics question as to how they got together! Anyway, that's my only complaint. Now let's get to the action!

If you are a comic book nut like myself, then this game is a godsend! This game makes you ask, Why didn't they do this before? There are a full compliment of characters from the DC universe and all of your favorites from the Mortal Kombat universe are there also! If you have ever played Mortal Kombat in the past then the control scheme will be familiar to you. In fact, they kind of simplified it for you.

I must admit that they did a good job on this game. My favorite character is a toss-up between Superman and the Flash! Both heroes powers are represented here beautifully. Superman will make you pay if he gets his hand on you, and the Flash...well lets just say that his speed is very well represented here. Sometimes it seems like he is in two places at once!

A surprise addition to the game was one of my favorite childhood hero's: Captain Marvel! When I was a kid it was always a question as to who would win in a fight between Captain Marvel and Superman! Now with this game you and your friends can try to answer that question as best as you can! To all of you Batman freaks out there, the Dark Knight is featured in this game as well! The game has all of your favorite and most popular DC characters and it also features a return of your favorite Mortal Kombat characters.

Of course you have Sub-zero and Scorpion. But you also have the return of Baraka, one of my favorites from the past. The Mortal Kombat characters can more than hold their own against the DC characters also. One of the coolest things about the game to me is the damage that each character shows at the end of each fight. There's nothing cooler than seeing Superman with his outfit ripped and cape almost torn off like he was in the fight of his life! This is a definite game to get if you are a comic book fan and even if you are a fan of the fighting genre. A worthy addition to the Mortal Kombat library.

I actually sent the game back but now I miss it! I'm going to buy it through Gamefly and right now the price is $44.99! that's about 15 bucks less than i would pay in the retail stores! You might say that's not that much of a discount! But in today's economy, any discount is a good discount! I am saving so much money with this service that I can't begin to tell how much I HAVE saved! I am very happy and satisfied with Gamefly and you will to! Do yourself a favor and check it out! You won't be disappointed!

Couldn't Get Rid Of Left 4 Dead Just Yet...!

Hey people. I know I told you guys that I would be reviewing Call Of Duty: World At War this week, but I couldn't get rid of Left 4 Dead just yet! The game is THAT good! I couldn't put it down! If there is a drawback to the whole Gamefly thing.., it is that in the beginning you can only rent 2 games at a time! So right now I'm stuck between getting rid of Gears Of War 2 and Left 4 Dead! Two equally great games. This is going to be hard!!!

I can't put Left 4 Dead down! I can't get enough of shooting those zombies! These zombies might walk slow, but when they see you...it's on! You have to shoot first, and ask questions later! Oh, and be careful around those cars. Make sure that you don't set off any car alarms because, as you know, these alarms warn the zombies! And when they come, they swarm like leeches on blood!

Never-the-less, an incredible game. Graphics, storyline, intensity, suspense! This game has it all! I would definitely recommend this game to anyone that loves shoot-em-ups! The game has everything that you, the shooter fan is looking for! Guns, ammunition, and a wide range of weapons. This is one of the reasons why I am having such a problem getting rid of the game. It has everything that I like in a shooter and more!

Anyway I will decide over the weekend which game to get rid of, and I will review "Call Of Duty: World At War" next week. If there's any game out there that you guy's would like me to review, just let me know! Talk to you next week!

Left 4 Dead!

First of all people, I want to say that the zombies in this game are not your typical "Dawn of the Dead", "Resident Evil", slow walking zombies! These zombies can really fly! Think, "I Am Legend" on steroids!

These zombies will overwhelm you and come at you from every angle! And the last thing that you want to do is try to go gung-ho alone! These zombies will eat you up and spit out the remains! This is a game about teamwork. To stay alive you have to work together or you will definitely die on your own! It doesn't matter whether you're playing with the computer or online with friends! You have to work together as a team or you will be killed!

Not only do you have to worry about the regular zombies, you have to worry about the so-called "tanks"! These are zombies that have mutated and are nothing but hulking killing machines and they go right after you and your online buddies! It will take the combined firepower of you and your buddies to defeat them! Don't worry, you will have sufficient firepower, but the guns are not enough! As I said before, this is a game about teamwork and you will need your team, online or computer, to help you defeat the "Tanks" and the rest of their zombie buddies!

And while we are on the online subject, You had better have a great connection to play online because the sheer number of zombies that this game packs on-screen is amazing! And if your connection is less than stellar, your game will suffer! I'm talking about slow-downs,choppy picture, not being able to move and all that other annoying @#&!!!

All in all this is an amazing game, and I do recommend it to anyone that is interested in it.Left 4 Dead will scare you, shock you, and have you screaming for help from your online comrades when it gets you in its grasp!

I am going to check out "Call Of Duty: World At War" on my next posting. So check back here next week!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all of you video game junkies out there! Let's hope that 2009 is better than 2008! So much happened in 2008 that I'm not even going into it! The economy is still bad and people are struggling everywhere! But at the same time great video games are still coming out and competing for your hard earned dollars, (what little you might have left...)!

Some of you old school gamers out there might feel like you have to cut back on that one thing that you have loved since River Raid! But in actuality you don't have to give up the games, you can still love video games, still play the latest video games and STILL be on a budget!

Just head right over to Gamefly and become a member and you will have instant access to gamefly's over 6,000 game titles covering every video game console out today! In the meantime, if you are not sure what games to buy because those so-called game review magazines cannot be trusted with their reviews, come back to this blog and I will give you the best review I can...from a gamers point of view...without the BULL!

No one pays me for my opinion! No one influences my opinion! If the game is good, I'll tell you! If the game is corny, I'll tell you! I don't care who made it or whose sales are hurt! If it sucks...It sucks and I'll let you know so you don't have to waste your hard earned money on crap! In the meantime, do yourself a favor and go check out Gamefly! You won't be disappointed!
